Prime Minister Narendra Modi praised scientists and technologists on account of the National Technology Day. The National Technology Day is celebrated every year on May 11 to mark anniversary of the Pokhran-II nuclear tests that were successfully carried out in 1998. Former President Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, who was then the Head of DRDO and Scientific Advisor to Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, served as the project coordinator along with Dr. R. Chidambaram.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Twitter said, “On National Technology Day, we salute the hardwork and tenacity of our scientists and those passionate about technology. We remember with pride the 1998 Pokhran Tests, which demonstrated India’s scientific and technological prowess.

“In any challenging situation, our scientists and innovators have always risen to the occasion and worked to mitigate the challenge. Over the last year, they have worked industriously to fight COVID-19. I appreciate their spirit and remarkable zeal.”

Vice President Venkaiah Naidu tweeted, “Greetings to our scientists & technologists on #NationalTechnologyDay. Science is the driver of all progress and it is important to inculcate scientific temper from a young age. May our innovators bring in greater happiness, comfort & prosperity in the lives of the people.”
